Doris Alznauer Obituary
Doris Alznauer

AGE: 75 • Newark

Doris Alznauer passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on November 6, 2017 at the age of 75. Doris was born in Newark, N. J. on Oct 17, 1942 to Mildred and Charles Reinhard. She resided with her parents and brother Paul in Irvington, N. J. and was a graduate of the Irvington school system. At an early age she developed a desire to become a hairdresser and graduated from the Wilfred School of Beauty. Her career spanned 45 years starting at small shops in Irvington and culminated with 35 years at Macys in Eatontown, N.J. She was married on November 5, 1966 to Alfred (Al) Alznauer. They resided in Iselin and Roselle Park N.J. before moving to Eatontown, N. J. in 1971. In Eatontown they raised their two children Cindy and David and remained in Eatontown until 2003 when they relocated full time to New Smyrna Beach, Fl. where she remained until her passing. Doris had a vibrant personality, always had a big smile, and was always the life of the party. She loved to keep active and had a passion for shopping with almost a daily visit to Publix in between trips to Kohls, Macys, Dillards, etc. She also enjoyed periodic trips on the Victory casino boat, junkets to Biloxi with her friend and companion Hildegard, and to Atlantic City when visiting in New Jersey. She loved the slots! She and Al traveled to many parts of the world over their years together. She especially enjoyed cruising, where she had the opportunity to dress up, enjoy the shows, food and new ports of call. She was a member of the N. S. B. Moose and, as a daughter of a veteran, the American Legion Auxiliary. Doris is predeceased by her parents and brother, Charles, Mildred and Paul Reinhard. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, Al , her children Cynthia (Tommy) Sheehan, her son David and the many friends who were fortunate enough to be a part of her vibrant life.
