Point Pleasant Beach - Doris Brill McNulty, 94, of Point Pleasant Beach died peacefully on January 27, 2018. Mrs. McNulty was born in New York City and moved to Mooers, N.Y., as a child. After graduating from high school there, she attended the University of Rochester School of Nursing, graduating in 1943 as a Registered Nurse. She later received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She worked as an RN in California, New Mexico and New York City, where she met George Robert McNulty when he returned from his service in World War II. They were married in 1949 and eventually moved to Point Pleasant Beach in 1960. She worked at Point Pleasant Hospital before taking a job as the nurse at Lakehurst Elementary School where she worked until her retirement in 1997. Doris was an avid reader and a lover of poetry. She was an expert weaver and an enthusiastic beachcomber. She was an active member of the Point Pleasant Beach community, volunteering with Coastal Caregivers and at St. Gregory's Pantry. She was an avid contributor to the Red Cross Blood Drive and was a proud recipient of her "5 gallon donor pin".

Doris is survived by her brother Robert Garrand of Westwood, N.J., son George and wife Emily of Reinholds, Pa.; daughter Kathryn Holmes and husband Bill of Orlando, Florida, son Matthew of Barnegat, N.J., and six grandchildren, Peter,Callan, Luna, Graeme, Robert and Kelly, and two great-grandchildren, Shane and Aiden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George, son Peter, and her brother Richard Garrand.

There will be a memorial gathering at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, on Friday, February 2, from 5:00-7:00pm. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 3, 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 406 Forman Ave., Point Pleasant Beach. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to St. Gregory's Pantry, 804 Bay Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742.
