Earl B. Perry Obituary
Earl B. Perry

AGE: 89 • Port St. Lucie, FL

Earl B. Perry, 89, of Port St Lucie Florida, died on February 3, 2017. His outgoing personality, love of meeting new people and generosity were renowned and will be sorely missed.

Earl was above all a family man. He treasured his wife Ruth. He was a loving and attentive father, there for his 3 daughters during their trials and celebrations. He welcomed his sons-in-law into the family and valued them each for their special individual personalities. More recently, Earl cherished visits with his grandchildren.

Born in Bordentown, NJ in 1928, throughout his life Earl reached out to connect with others no matter their color, creed or nationality. He continued to keep in touch with surviving friends from his hometown of Bordentown, NJ until his death. Earl served his country in the army during the Korean conflict (1950-1953), when he also established lifelong friendships. In 1951, he and his sweetheart Ruth A. Weckesser were married in Jersey City, NJ.

On leaving the army, Earl completed his college degree the hard way - taking night classes at Rutgers University while working full time during the day. In 1955, he and Ruth bought a family home in Mt Holly, NJ - a move which lasted nearly 60 years and created many lasting memories for 3 generations.

In 1990, Earl retired from Ohio Casualty Insurance Company operating out of Toms River, NJ . He continued to work part-time throughout his retirement as a public relation specialist for various business contacts, a role to which he was truly suited with his rapport-building skills.

In late 2014 Earl and Ruth moved into their final home in Port St Lucie, Florida.

Through his life, Earl was a keen sportsman, playing high school football and baseball. His father introduced him to baseball as a youngster and Earl was an avid Dodgers fan all his life. As an adult he took up golf and later in life he enjoyed taking all his family to baseball games.

Earl is survived by his wife Ruth, and daughters: Alice Rulau (Russell); Grace Luehring (David); Ellen Perry (Martin Peters); grandchildren: Saskia, Alyssa, and Matthew.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 8 April 2017, 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Port St. Lucie, 2401 SE Sidonia Street, Port St. Lucie, Florida 34952.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Earl B. Perry may be sent to Deborah Hospital Foundation P.O. Box 820 Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
