Edith J. Lotz, (nee Trevenen) 85, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Green Hill, West Orange, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, NJ on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Montclair, NJ. Mrs. Lotz was born in Newark, NJ. During her childhood her family lived in many different states. She attended Kearny High School and was a resident of Kearny until 2005 when she moved to West Caldwell, NJ. She has lived in West Orange for the last 5 years. Until recent years she spent her summers in Ocean Grove, New Jersey.

Edith graduated from the Presbyterian School of Nursing in Newark in 1952 as a Registered Nurse and in 1953 earned her B.A. in Nursing from Rutgers University also in Newark.

She was a school nurse at Lincoln School in Kearny for 29 years before retiring in 1999.

Mrs. Lotz was a member of the EMD of the Woman's Club of Arlington and the Ivy Circle both of Kearny and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ocean Grove Usher Association in Ocean Grove, NJ. Edith was also a member of the Frances M. McLaughlin Division of Nursing at Bloomfield College Alumni Association. She was also very active in the PTA associations at Roosevelt School and Lincoln School, and was a leader in the Girl Scouts for many years.

She is survived by her children, Ellen L .Smith and her husband Douglas and Gregory G. Lotz and his wife Susan; two brothers, Harold Trevenen and his wife Peggy and Calvin Trevenen and his wife Michelle. She was the grandmother of Griffin and Katharine Lotz and Lauren and Heather Smith. She was the aunt of several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Edith was predeceased by her husband Garrison G. Lotz in 1987.
