Edward J. Meehan

Wall - Edward J. Meehan, 94, of Wall, NJ, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2017. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Ed graduated from Seton Hall Prep and received his bachelor's degree from Seton Hall College (now Seton Hall University). He served as a communications and deck officer in the United States Navy during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. After the war, Ed took additional courses to get his teaching certificate and ultimately received his master's degree in history at Notre Dame University. He taught at the high school level in Florida and then at Red Bank Regional High School, where he retired after 24 years.

Ed is survived by his wife, Margaret B. Meehan, whom he met 65 years ago on a blind date in St. Petersburg, FL; and their children Maryanne Pazienza, John Meehan, Elizabeth Meehan, and Jennifer Terrell. He is also survived by grandchildren Caity, Bryan, Kelsey, Christian, Noah, and Kylie, step grandchildren Louie, Alissa, and Jessica, and great-grandson Steven.

Ed was a parishioner of Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach. There will be a celebration of Ed's life in the spring. He will be interred at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, NJ, at that time. Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St. Manasquan, NJ is in charge of the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Foundation, 23 Main St, Suite D1, Holmdel, NJ 07733 or online at would be appreciated.

The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful hospice caregivers and personnel at VNA for their exceptional care during Dad's final days.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.
