EDWARD STEVEN MATERA, 64, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at home.

He was born in Orange, NJ, and resided in Avenel, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp., NJ, 31 years ago. Edward was an accountant for A.I.G., New York, NY, for 31 years prior to his retirement. He was a graduate of William Paterson College, Wayne, NJ, and he enjoyed sports and going to Monmouth Raceway Park. Edward was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson Twp., NJ.

He was predeceased by his Father, Edward J. Matera. Edward is survived by his Wife of 39 years, Loretta Matera of Jackson Twp., NJ; his Sons, Edward M. Matera and his Wife, Amy of East Hanover, NJ, and Daniel G. Matera and his Wife, Tamara of Hamilton, NJ; his Daughter, Megan M. Roszko and her Husband, John of Burlington, NJ; his Mother, Theresa Matera of Belleville, NJ; and by his Brother, John Matera and his Wife, Carol of Cedar Grove, NJ.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2-4 & 6-8 on Monday, January 2, 2017, at the GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. His Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. Please gather at the church at 9:15 AM. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Rd., Freehold, NJ 07728.
