EDWARD V. RACZYNSKI, JR.
AGE: 73 LAKEWOOD
Edward V. Raczynski, Jr., 73, of Lakewood, NJ died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at his home. He was born in Jersey City and raised in Elizabeth.
Ed played baseball all thru his school years and was named to all county and all state teams. Ed graduated from Union High School in 1955. He signed up with the Washington Senators to play pro baseball in lieu of 14 college scholarships that he was offered. He was recently inducted into the Union County Baseball Hall of fame. After a few years in the minor leagues Ed joined the U.S. Army and served both in the United States & Korea.
He leaves behind his daughter Tracy DeGroat of Brick and her boyfriend, Paul Beck, his son, Mark Raczynski of Brick, and his 2 loving grandchildren, Nicholas and Gabrielle DeGroat and his former wife, Frances Krauss Raczynski. He also leaves his sister-in-law Loretta Raczynski, his niece Wendi Gill, great niece and nephew Jamie Clare and Dennis Gill, his son-in-law, Keith DeGroat, his parents, John and Susan DeGroat, and his sister, Sandee DeGroat.
Visiting Wednesday from 6-9 pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick, NJ. A funeral service will be offered on Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home. Committal will be private.
