Edward Whelan Obituary
Mr Edward Whelan

AGE: 66 • Keyport

Edward T. Whelan, 66, of Keyport, NJ died February 21 from complications of diabetes. "Happy", a childhood nickname, was born in Jersey City and resided in Maryland for twenty years before returning to New Jersey and settling in Keyport. He is predeceased by his parents Grace and Thomas Whelan, and brother Robert. He is survived by Marie Wall and their children, Melissa, Tara Kovatch, Heather Ditta, Sean, and Brendan, his six grandchildren, Brendan Thomas, Patrick, Grace, Zachery, Riley, and Aiden, his siblings, Bernice Nestor, Andrew, Mary, and Jane Cooney. A former police officer in Woodbridge, NJ, Ed loved to regal others with his stories of his time on the job. After leaving the force, he joined his brother, Drew, in several businesses throughout the years. Throughout so many of those ventures, he was joined by his attorney and friend Richard H. Tanenbaum, Esq. His greatest joys were in taking his children and grandchildren on numerous adventures throughout the world and for those experiences, we will always be grateful. Ed was generous to several charities and so in lieu of flowers please send donations to the Trinity Hall, 101 Corregidor Road, Tinton Falls, NJ. The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 25 at St. Catherine's, 5 Shore Acres Ave, Middletown, NJ at 9:30AM. Cremation Services will be private. Calling hours will be Friday, February 24 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at John P. Condon Funeral Home LLC, 804 St. Hwy. #36, Leonardo, NJ.
