Betty was born and raised in West Orange, NJ to Eva and Robert Maguire. She graduated from West Orange High School and was employed as a Private Secretary at PSE&G in Newark for 34 years before retiring in 1997. Betty moved to Bay Head permanently in 1980.

She was predeceased by her parents and survived by her loving and devoted brother, Robert Maguire of Bay Head; her loving uncle, Harold Mihalak of White House Station; and many cousins.

Betty was a past president of the Essex County Chapter of Secretaries as well as being voted the Secretary of the Year by her peers. She assisted in the organizing of the annual PSE&G bowling tournament which was always a huge success. Using her excellent secretarial skills for the Bay Head Centennial celebration, she created all the publications relative to the Centennial. She was Past President of the Bay Head-Mantoloking Women's Republican Club, a member of The Women of Irish Heritage at Jersey Shore, a dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, Right to Life Ministry, a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector and an altar server until her illness. Betty loved to travel extensively countrywide, traveling to Ireland, Rome, and the Holy Land twice. She also enjoyed the Arts and Crafts shows at the Jersey Shore, the annual Clambake in Bay Head, going out to dinner with friends after Mass on Saturday nights, attending concerts at the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove in the summer and she loved the entire Sacred Heart Parish. Her favorite things were retirement, bowling, swimming, traveling, walking and cruising. The family offers appreciation and thanks to the Nurses and Staff at Claremont Care Center and the Nurses and Aides from Holistic Hospice for the care and services extended to her. Also, many thanks to Fr. Kevin Ashe of Sacred Heart for all of his assistance and concern.
