She participated in many activities with organizations such as Friends of Spe-cial Athletes, including swimming, basketball, bowling, track and field, and dance events. Ellen was a Special Olympian for more than 30 years and was especially proud of the countless gold, silver and bronze medals she won swimming the butter-fly and freestyle strokes.

She was a communicant and altar server at St. Mark's Church in Sea Girt and a member of the Holy Innocents Society.

Ellen loved to travel and eagerly anticipated each adventure. Some of her favorite destinations were Bermuda, Mexico, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. She was a big fan of Broadway musicals and television soap operas. One of the best days of her life was meeting Eric Martsolf, one of the stars of Days of Our Lives.
