AGE: 90 • Normandy Beach and

formerly of Montclair

Ellin C. (nee Callahan) Ward, 90, of Normandy Beach and formerly of Montclair passed away peacefully with her beloved family at her bedside. Ellin was born in Jersey City and had resided in Montclair from 1951 - 1990, Stuart, FL from 1990-1994 and had summered in Normandy Beach from 1960 until moving there year-round in 1994. She was a graduate of Jersey City State Teachers College and earned her Master's degree from Seton Hall. Ellin went on to an illustrious teaching career in the Montclair Public Schools. She was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Cassian's Church, Montclair, a member of the Parish Council and a Trustee of the Church. She was also a member of St. Vincent's Hospital Women's Auxiliary. Since residing in Normandy Beach, Ellin was an active Communicant of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, Lavallette, a member of the Rosary Society, and the Catholic Daughters of the parish. Ellin was an avid traveler and a member of the Garden Club of Normandy Beach.

She was predeceased by her parents Timothy J. and Ellen Langton Callahan, her husband Joseph S. Ward in 1994, 2 of her children, Christopher G. Ward and Ellin B. Ward and her siblings.

Ellin is survived by her children and their spouses Kathryn Ward-Hall, Anne Marie McMahon (Richard), Joseph S. Ward (Susan), Timothy J. Ward, John P. Ward (Donna), Mary Therese Ward with whom she lived, Thomas M. Ward (Amanda) and Jane Marie Anderson (Dwight ), and Robert M. Ward (Jennifer) and her 23 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ 07719 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Church, 103 Washington Ave., Lavallette, NJ. Private burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers the family specifically requests donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Rd., 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home on Friday.
