Eric William Landmesser

Pine Beach - Eric William Landmesser, 62, of Pine Beach, NJ, passed away at his home on January 19, 2018, surrounded by friends and family. He was born May 14th, 1955, in Lakewood, NJ, to Werner and Eleanor Landmesser. Eric was a 1973 graduate of Toms River H.S. South. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Industrial Arts at Trenton State College. During his undergraduate studies, he was a foreign exchange student at the University of Frankfurt, Germany. Eric taught for 31 years for the Toms River School District, retiring in 2010. He specialized in Wood Shop and Comprehensive Shop. During his teaching career, he was the House Captain of the "Christmas in April" Program, a leading volunteer organization that rehabilitates the houses of low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly and people with disabilities, so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety, and independence. He was a very active member of the TREDUC union.

Eric is survived by his mother, Eleanor Landmesser-Kromer of Delray, FL; brother Kirk Landmesser and sister-in-law Kathy Landmesser of Pine Beach; sister Laura Landmesser of Lake Worth, FL; his loving nephew Kevin Landmesser of Pine Beach; and niece Marissa Todino of Lake Worth, FL. In death, he will be joining the love of his life, Janice Tice, who passed away in March of 2017.

Eric will be greatly missed by the many friends and family who enjoyed spending time with him. He truly embraced life, enjoying many outdoor activities like kayaking, motorcycling, skiing, snowboarding, and sailing his favorite boat, "CatDog," up and down the Barnegat Bay. He loved being "on the go," and was always ready to hop in the car for a new adventure. In his younger years, Eric was an avid equestrian. In the 70's, he played guitar and sang in a local duo called "LandPhil," with his buddy, Chris Phillips. Eric was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need with his many skills. He volunteered both at Allaire State Park and Tuckerton Seaport annual Duck & Decoy Show, demonstrating Blacksmithing skills to the public. Everyone enjoyed his annual summer birthday celebration, they dubbed "Ericfest." Eric's fun-loving, generous, "set-in-his-ways" personality made him a great conversationalist, who was devoted to his friends and family. His favorite past time was spending time with his brother, where they shared their passion for vintage cars by attending many antique car shows, as well as traveling through Germany on their motorcycles.
