Professional Planner for 50 years

Ervin Eugene Oross ("Gene") passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 13 with his beloved wife by his side.

Gene was born on January 21, 1929 in New Brunswick, NJ. He attended New Brunswick High School where he was an all Middlesex County All-Star, lettering in Track & Field and Football. He attended Rutgers University where he served as the class of 1953 class President. After attending Naval Officer Candidate School in Long Beach California, he earned his commission as a Naval Officer. Gene served on the USS Coral Sea (CV-43) during the Korean War, discharging honorably as a Lieutenant (jg) in 1955.

Pursuing his interests in Urban Planning, Gene was accepted and enrolled in The University of Pennsylvania Master of City Planning program. He earned his Professional Planning license and worked as Department Planner for Ocean County for 10 years before striking out on his own. He incorporated E. Eugene Oross Associates in 1966 & Rehabco, Inc., in 1982.

Partially retiring in 1993, Gene still assisted in the daily operation of both offices. He moved full time to Mantoloking in 2013.

Gene was a loving father, leader and example to his three sons. He was active within the New Brunswick Hungarian-American Community, was on the Board of the Magyar Savings Bank, and benefactor of the Hungarian Museum and Hungarian American Athletic Clubs. He loved nothing more than spending time with his sons fishing aboard his boat the Master Plan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marianne. His three sons: Ervin, Jr. and wife Carolee of Pine Beach, NJ, Gregory and fiancée Raeanne of Clark, NJ, and Alexander and wife Susan of New Brunswick, NJ, as well as eight grandchildren. Roma his loving caregiver of three years.

A private Memorial Mass followed by Interment of his cremated remains at Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick will be held for immediate family.
