Departed on April 6, 2018, WWII Veteran and Resided in Glen Ridge, NJ - "Gene" peacefully passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, at the New Jersey Veterans Home in Paramus, NJ. He was 93.

Gene was born in Larksville, PA to James and Elizabeth (Carey) Barry. He grew up in Larksville, and moved to Glen Ridge, NJ in 1952. Gene worked at Anheuser Busch in Newark before retiring to Middletown and then Jensen Beach, FL.

Gene was a proud World War II Veteran. He served under General George Patton in the 7TH Army, 106TH Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron, landing on Utah Beach on D-Day. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Heroic Achievement and 4 Bronze Stars for his actions in France and Germany. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion

He was devoted to his family and will always be remembered for the love, warmth & kindness he showered on his late wife "Toni", his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Gene was the beloved husband of his late wife Antoinette Barry for 65 years.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Crawley and her husband, Thomas, John Barry and his wife, Judith, Ann Marie Rose and her husband, William; his grandchildren: Sharon Crawley, Christopher Barry and his wife, Deanna, Kevin Barry and his wife, Deanna, Thomas Crawley and his wife, Alessandra, Lawrence Crawley and his wife, Terry, Pamela Rose-DeAndrea and her husband, Joseph, William L. Rose, III and his wife, Ashley.

He is also survived by his loving great-grandchildren: Landon Barry, Layla Barry, Brooke Barry, Quinn Barry, Joey DeAndrea, Matthew DeAndrea, Mason Crawley, Bella Crawley, Demeter Crawley and Liberty Rose Crawley.

He is also survived by his sister, Esther Rodenbush of Las Vegas, NV and many nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his brothers James and Jack Barry, Ann Barry, and Margaret Mikluschak.

Relatives and friends are invited to the O'Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad Street, Bloomfield, on Monday, April 9th, at 9am, thence to Sacred Heart Church, 76 Broad Street, Bloomfield, where the Funeral Mass will be held at 10am. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. Visitation will be held at O'Boyle Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-7pm.
