Evelio R. Bofill MD, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away in Miami Beach, Florida on Saturday April 1, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba on 11/12/1923 to Caridad Leal and Francisco "Pancho" Bofill.

Dr. Bofill received his medical degree from the University of Havana in 1949 and practiced medicine in Cuba for a number of years before immigrating to the United States in 1967. Upon arriving in the United States, he was required to replicate his medical degree and studied at Jackson Memorial in Miami. Dr. Bofill secured the Chief Resident position in the Department of Radiology at Monmouth Medical Center in 1969. Upon completion of his residency, he joined Monmouth Radiology as a partner until his retirement in 1993.

Dr. Bofill was an active supporter of the ARC of Monmouth, attending the annual Winter Glow Ball and supporting their basketball program at Holy Trinity School. He received many awards over the years for his work with the ARC. He was honored in 1994 at the Cuban Medical Convention in Bar Harbor, Florida on the 45th Anniversary of his graduation from Medical School. He was a proud citizen of the United States exercising his right to vote in every election possible.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Aurelia, his son Evelio and wife Ann, son Emilio and daughter Elsa as well as three grandchildren Matthew, Katelyn and Amanda .

A funeral mass will be offered on Saturday April 29th at 10:00 am St Jerome RC Church, 254 Wall Street West Long Branch. Entombment will be at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dr. Bofill's memory to the ARC of Monmouth, 1158 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls NJ 07724 Attention: Development Center.
