Evelyn M. Josephsen

AGE: 86 • Toms River

Evelyn M. Josephsen, 86, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, she lived in Montclair before moving to Toms River in 1967. Evelyn was employed as an Executive Secretary at Bankers Trust, NYC, from 1948-1963. She then was employed as an Executive Secretary at Ciba Geigy in Toms River from 1965-1991. Her final place of employment was the Martin Agency in Toms River from 1991-2010.

Evelyn was a charter member of the Emmanuel Community Church in Bayville, where she served as treasurer for 26 years. She was part of the original group that began the Christian Childrens Associates radio program "Adventure Pals" in 1968 and served as a cast member and volunteer for over forty years. Additionally, Evelyn volunteered her time and secretarial skills to the Rotary Club of Toms River for many years and although not technically a member, was considered to be the "actual" secretary of the club for a long time. For her efforts there, Evelyn was awarded a "Paul Harris Fellow", Rotary's highest honor.

Evelyn is survived by her son George Josephsen and his wife Alena of Toms River, and her grandchildren Skylar Josephsen and Marc Josephsen.

Visitation will be Monday, August 7, from 2-4 & 7-9PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. The service will be 8PM. Burial will be private.
