AGE: 94 • Manchester Twp

Francis S. Mansue, 94, of Leisure Village West, Manchester Twp. died February 17, 2017. Born in Le Roy, NY of Hungarian immigrates, John and Rose Mansue. He was raised mostly in Mercer County, NJ graduating from Allentown High School and Rutgers University with a BS in Agriculture. Francis served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He started his career as a

4-H Agent with Rutgers Cooperative Extension in 1946 in Passaic County, transferring to Ocean County. He was very instrumental in the growth of the Ocean County 4-H Youth Program and the Ocean County Fair. He was promoted to the State 4-H office as the Assistant State Leader in 1963 and eventually became the 4-H Department Chairman at Rutgers before retiring. Under Francis' tenure, 4-H youth programs expanded to New Jersey's urban centers. He was the President of the National 4-H Agents Association during the 60's and honored on Oct 12, 2012 by being inducted to the National 4-H Hall of Fame at the National 4-H Center. He resided Pine Beach, NJ for 30 years and Smyrna, DE for 25 years before moving to Manchester Twp. in 2001. Francis was a member of the Toms River Country Club and Garrison Lake Golf Country Club. Besides golfing, Francis also enjoyed boating on the Barnegat Bay and surf fishing on the Jersey Shore. Francis was predeceased by his wife, Doris J. in 1999. He is also predeceased by his brothers, John, Albert and Ernest and sisters, Rose and Anna. Francis is survived by his son, F. Mark and his wife, Karen of Manchester Twp., 3 grandchildren, Matthew Mansue, Gwyneth Minicozzi, Carrie Denson, 3 great-grandchildren, Savannah, Gabriella and Joseph and his companion, Joan Harary. Memorial Service, 11 AM, Saturday February 25, 2017 at United Church of Christ, 1681 Ridgeway Rd., Toms River. Interment will take place privately at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
