AGE: 73 • Toms River

Frank A. Toscano, age 73, of Toms River, passed away on Thursday, February 16th, 2017, at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brick. Born in Jersey City, NJ he moved to Toms River in 1971. Frank was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Toms River.

Frank was well known and much respected in the cigar industry. He began "peddling" cigars as an independent in 1975. He opened his first premium tobacco shop, Cigars Plus, in Brick in 1989. In the mid 90's he teamed with Debra Caparelli and opened a second shop in Red Bank. Frank was instrumental in bringing together many tobacco retailers in New Jersey to form ARTS. (Associated Retail Tobacco Stores of NJ) of which he was elected President. He was also a long term member of IPCPR (International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association). He was on the Board of Directors from 2009-2011. As was said about Frank, "he was as straight as an arrow and a man of his word". He will be missed dearly in our cigar family.

Frank was predeceased by his wife Hilda. He is survived by his fiancé Maria A. Urbano of Brick; his son, John Toscano of Toms River; two step-sons, Jeffrey DeLima of Linden and Louis DeLima of Toms River; his step daughter Beverly "Leilani" Lopez of Florida; his sister Phyllis Kovy and her husband James of Linden; and his grandson Joshua Toscano of Brick.

Visiting hours are Monday, February 20, 2017, from 2 - 4 PM and 7 - 9 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick NJ. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 21st at 10:30am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
