Frederick Di Pasquale Obituary
Frederick G. Di Pasquale

AGE: 103 • Oakhurst

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Mr. Di Pasquale lived in Orange for 36 years before moving to Oakhurst in 1991. He graduated Newark Central High School and later enlisted in the US Army during WWII despite having lost an eye in a childhood accident. He was assigned to Princeton University's ROTC program, and after the war he began a 45 year financial career. As a graduate of The American Institute of Banking, he became a certified consultant to bank management and eventually rose to the position of vice president and managing director of the installment lending credit department at First Fidelity Bank in Newark. He also served as a president of the bank's Quarter Century Club.

Active in community affairs for the city of Orange, Mr. Di Pasquale was an executive board member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Recreation Dept. and chairman of the Board of Adjustment. A past chairman of the Essex County Italian American Heritage Council, he also volunteered his time as a president of the Orange/West Orange Kiwanis Club and served on committees for Memorial Sloan Kettering and The Sacred Heart League.

The son of Italian immigrants, the late Antonio and Flora Anne Di Pasquale, "Freddy" was predeceased by his brothers Peter, Arthur, Anthony, Ernest and John, and his beloved sister Emily. Many loving nieces and nephews survive him as well as his dear friend Louise Cardinale, the entire Cardinale family and his loyal friend and neighbor Marty Fahey. He was the standard bearer of his family and relished his role as guardian and provider for three generations. Freddy leaves a legacy of commitment, achievement, generosity and an unsurpassed work ethic. His passing is truly the end of an era.

Visiting will be at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny on Thursday from 3 until 7 p.m. Mass Friday 11:00 a.m. in St Valentine's Church in Bloomfield and burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
