Frederick Forrest "Bud" Schock III Obituary
Frederick Forrest "Bud" Schock, III

Schock III, Frederick Forrest "Bud" died peacefully on February 17, surrounded by his loving family in Seminole, Florida.

Bud Schock was born on January 19, 1931 to Frederick Schock Jr. and Anne McDonald. He grew up with his older sister, Ellen, in Spring Lake, New Jersey. He was a graduate of The Hill School and Princeton University. Following graduation, he served in the Army.

Bud experienced great success in the resort and hospitality business. In the early 60's, he ran The Essex and Sussex Hotel seasonally, with members of his family and devoted staff. After leaving the family business, he worked in Paradise Island, Great Gorge, Clearwater, FL and Stuart, FL. Much of his success in his business endeavors was due to his dedicated staff, attention to detail, and natural ability to connect with people. He was a wonderful husband and dad who worked hard and greatly loved his family time and friends. Bud enjoyed entertaining, boating, fishing, golfing, body-surfing, backgammon, music, travel and his dogs.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sandra Fountain from Allenhurst, his son Rick Schock and wife Mary, daughter Amy and husband Jerry Kurtz, and grandchildren, Freddy and Suzy Schock, Laura, Molly and Cindy Kurtz. "Uncle Buddy" is remembered by his many adoring nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Ellen Gilbertson of Rumson and son Stephen.

Many fond memories were shared on the Jersey shore with so many good friends.

Memorial Service will be held at Oakhurst United Methodist Church in Seminole, FL on March 2nd at 10:30AM.
