G. Ronald Finnegan

Holmdel - G. Ronald Finnegan passed away at home on Sunday November 26, 2017. Ron was born in Webster Massachusetts on October 28, 1934. He is the son of the late George H. Finnegan and Gertrude (Doherty) Finnegan. He had two sisters, who predeceased him, Eleanor Finnegan-Gawle and Margaret (Peggy) Finnegan-Gaudette.

Ron attended Nichols College in Dudley Massachusetts, graduating with an Associates Degree. While attending Nichols College, Ron enlisted in the United States Army Reserve. Upon graduation, he was called to Active Duty in the United States Army and was assigned to Fort Dix, NJ. After completing training at Fort Dix, Ron was promoted to the rank of corporal and assigned in Europe to USAREUR COMZ. He was selected for assignment to the United States Embassy in Paris, France. Ron served at the Embassy with distinction, earning recognition from the Charge D'affaires for his excellent work.

After leaving Active Duty, Ron was employed by Pan American World Airways to work at their prestigious 600 Fifth Avenue offices in New York City. While working at Pan American, Ron met his future wife, Miss Mary H. Dillon. Ron and Mary were married, November 10, 1962.

Ron enrolled at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY where he completed a BA in Business Administration. He achieved this goal while married with two children and working a fulltime job. Ron was then employed by Merck & Company working in their corporate offices in Manhattan, Rahway NJ, and Whitehouse Station NJ, before retiring in 1997. He was a "can do" manager known for his sharp mind and wit. At Merck, Ron accomplished many things throughout his career; he was rewarded with promotions to positions of ever increasing responsibilities.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his sons, Stephen and Timothy, daughter, Maureen and son-in-law Frank Maduri. He is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and friends. Ron was truly devoted to his family and his friends. He will be dearly missed by all.

Ron was a gentleman in every sense of the word. He was a man with filled tremendous reverence for God, along with his devotion to his family, friends, and his Country. He was a longtime member of Saint Mary's Parish in New Monmouth NJ. Ron was an active volunteer at Saint Mary in many church programs. He was also a member of the Middletown Lions Club and American Legion M.M. Eberts Post One.

Due to family members having allergies, the family requests in lieu of flowers, you would consider making a donation to the Saint Mary's Parish Building Fund in Ron Finnegan's name. Thank you.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
