AGE: 73 • Farmingdale, formerly of Avon

Mr. G. William McDevitt, 73, of Farmingdale, formerly of Avon, passed away peacefully at home on July 30, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bill was a devoted Catholic and a parishioner of The Church of Saint Rose in Belmar. He graduated from Saint Rose High School in 1961 and Seton Hall University in 1963 with a BS in Business. He served in the National Guard Reserves for 6 years. Bill was the manager, then owner of the Belmar Fashion Corner in Belmar for many years. Most recently he worked as a Realtor for Avon Realty in Avon. Bill was a lifelong resident of Avon before recently moving to Farmingdale. He was incredible at everything; as a son, a brother, a husband, an amazing father and grandfather, and a friend to so many. From his birth to his death, he nourished those around him with love and faith.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Nancy McDevitt and his sister-in- law, Lorraine McDevitt. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathy McDevitt, his daughter Amy Wondrack and husband Mark of Wall Twp., his daughter Meghan Doyle and husband Frank of Lincroft, his son Joseph McDevitt and wife Kerry of Colts Neck, his daughter Kate McDevitt of Wall Twp., his brother Joseph McDevitt of Spring Lake, his sister Anne Garrett and her husband William of Spring Lake, his brother Robert and his wife Peggy of Bradley Beach, and his brother Richard and his wife Patricia of Middletown. He had 8 grandchildren that he adored; Lindsay and Dan Wondrack, William, Kylie and Kathryn Doyle, Andrew and Gavin McDevitt and Steven Coltrain, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 3, from 4 to 8pm at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 4 at 10:30am at The Church of Saint Rose, 603 7th Ave., Belmar. Committal will follow at Saint Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers, donations to Meridian at Home Hospice (1340 A Campus Parkway, Neptune, NJ, 07753) or the , would be greatly appreciated.
