Freehold - Garrett Henry Denise, 90, of Freehold NJ, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at his residence with his loving daughter Diana at his side. He was born on September 6, 1927 in Hilburn, NY right before his family moved to Freehold, NJ. He married Joan Patricia Van Pelt of Morganville, NJ and settled there before returning to Freehold in his later years. Garrett served in the US Navy and US Reserves during WWII for a combined 11 years. He remembered his time in the service as a gift to be able to see so many foreign countries. After his commissions Garrett worked for General Motors in Linden, NJ and retired after 37 years. He was a life-long member of the Morganville United Methodist Church where he also served as caretaker for the big lawn for many years. Garrett is survived by his loving family: two daughters and sons-in-laws, Diana and Brian Weiss of Freehold, NJ, Cherie and Tom Glowacka of Morganville, NJ; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Brenda Denise of Walhalla, SC; four granddaughters, Bonnie, Caitlin, Christine, Shannon; grandson, TJ; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Rose. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Bergen Denise and Myrtle Degraw Denise; his loving wife, Joan Patricia Van Pelt Denise; their son, William; brother, Harold Denise; and a sister, Eleanor Duff.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Hwy. 79, Morganville, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018, 10:00 am at the Morganville United Methodist Church, Morganville, NJ. Burial will take place in the Old Tennent Cemetery in Manalapan, NJ.
