George A. (Al) Bilaitis

AGE: 74 • Lakewood

George A. (Al) Bilaitis, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on December 5, 2016 at age 74 surrounded by those he loved and loved him. He was born in Lithuania and immigrated to the United States as a child. Al became an American citizen and proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence. After the Navy, he joined Public Service Electric and Gas Company as an emergency lineman, retiring after 36 years of service. Al was previously a resident of Kearny and active at Our Lady of Sorrows Church and at the Lithuanian Community Center where he was the treasurer and a member of the board of directors for over 10 years. He also was a lifetime member of the Knights of Lithuania.

He is the son of the late George and Albina (Plikaitis) Bilaitis. Al was also Predeceased by his brothers-in-law Clark Williamson and Fred Ditchkus; His Nephews and Niece Christopher and Douglas Williamson, Michael and Lenora Ditchkus.

He is survived by his Wife Theresa (Gelcius) Bilaitis and Sisters and Brother-in-Law Eleanor Ditchkus, Val and Ted Smela and Vida Williamson, His sisters-in-law Marianne Cassidy and Barbara Rokas and his devoted nieces and nephews Lori and Gary Cohen, Judy Brown, Paul Smela, Diane Dieterman, David and Michele Smela, Jennifer and Mike Sullivan and Krissie Williamson.

Visiting will be Thursday 4:00PM - 8:00PM at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Road, Toms River. Mass will be Friday 10:00 AM at St. Dominic's RC Church, Brick arrive a the funeral home 8:30am. www.silvertonmemorial.com
