George Albert Martin Obituary
George Albert Martin

AGE: 90 • Point Pleasant

George A. Martin, 90, passed away peacefully in his home on April 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, George moved to Point Pleasant Beach in 1930. He graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School.

In his Senior year of High School, George enlisted in the US Army. He served honorably in 82nd Airborne Division during WWII. As part of the armed forces European campaign, George fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was part of the Airborne Division that lead the New York City Victory Parade of 1946.

After serving his country, George returned to Point Pleasant Beach and married the love of his life, Audrey Eagleson. They were happily married for 52 years until Audrey's passing in 2001. Together they raised three children in the home that he built for them.

As a member of the Greatest Generation, George was a man of the highest integrity. He believed in the value of hard work and a blue-collar work ethic working as a tile contractor in to his 80s. As an active member of the local community George was a lifetime member of the Point Pleasant Beach Number 2 Fire Company. George often entertained his many grandchildren with vivid tales of the old times growing up in Point Pleasant Beach. He was voracious reader of anything related to US History.

George is survived by his sister Florence White, his daughter Denise Robertson, his daughter and son-in-law Gail and David Butler, and his son and daughter-in-law John and Kate Martin. George was proud grandfather of Allison Milancewich, Dave Martin, Colleen Troy, Sean Troy, Courtney Robertson, Austin Robertson, Kelsey Robertson, Shaun Butler, Jake Butler, and Jonathan Butler. His beloved great grandchildren Ryan, Logan, Valentina, Koa, and Jaxon.
