George Brian Petersen, 59, of Monroe Township, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, George, affectionately called "UG" by his family and friends, was raised on Staten Island, NY. He lived in Cape Coral, FL for several years while working as a registered pharmacist for the former Eckerd Drugs. He returned to New Jersey and lived in Freehold for 25 years before settling in Monroe Twp. 3 years ago. After coming back home, George worked for his family's business, Culver Floor Covering, in Brooklyn, where he served as vice president. George earned his private pilots license and enjoyed flying. He also looked forward to his many trips to Las Vegas where he was the family tutor at Craps and Roulette. He was a collector of sports memorabilia and coins and was an avid New York J-E-T-S fan.

Predeceased by his parents, Theodore W. and Carol F. Petersen, he is survived by his siblings, Mary Cognetta and Theodore P. Petersen; his aunt, Margaret Bogaard; his nieces, Jennifer Cognetta and Tracy Somma and her husband Andrew, and; his great-nieces, Alexis and Abigail Somma.

Arrangements are under the direction of Spotswood Funeral Home, however due to our renovation and construction, all services will take place at Lester Memorial Home, 16 West Church Street, Jamesburg, as follows: Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at Lester's on Wednesday at 9:00 AM followed by a 10:15 AM Mass of Christian Burial from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment will be in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
