George Dewey Friedel III Obituary
George Dewey Friedel, III

AGE: 66 • Wall

George Dewey Friedel, III, 66 years old, was promoted to Heaven on April 18, 2016 while sitting in his prophet's chair at home. Born on September 6, 1949 in Milford, Delaware, he was a graduate of Oral Roberts University and Princeton Theological Seminary.

Dewey leaves his legacy of his loving wife of 46 years, Ronda Jean (Goodell), his son, Isaac Richard Baxter Friedel and his wife Diamond; grandchildren Judah and Lily, his heart-adopted Chinese family Joshua, Sarah, Lanna, and Abi; his father, George Friedel, Jr., his mother Ida Mae Friedel, sister Diane and husband Phil Booth; sister Carolyn Merryman; father-in-law Richard Goodell, brother-in-law Rich Goodell, Jr., sister-in-law Dianne Goodell, sister-in-law Marcia and husband Bill Reese, many precious nieces and nephews, and many loving and devoted spiritual sons and daughters.

Pastor Dewey and Ronda were called to the ministry in 1972. After missionary work in Africa and pastoring at Avon Methodist church, Pastor Dewey was led by God to found Shore Christian Center Church in 1977 where he served his congregation with passion, dedication, and love for 39 years. Pastor Dewey had a heart to serve the Lord and a heart for people. He was a spiritually gifted and anointed man of God who brought the Word of God with relevance, integrity, and love to young, to old, and to those from all walks of life. Pastor Dewey's passion was to love everybody, everywhere, all the time, and to see them all saved, healed, and blessed through faith in Jesus Christ.

Pastor Dewey believed that the Lordship of Jesus extends to all aspects of life, and he was active in bringing Jesus' love into sports, education, television, and radio, and government forums. He hosted nation-wide and world-wide televised programs on the Trinity Broadcasting and Alerta Network, authored three books and many articles, and was a sought-after speaker at numerous churches throughout the nation and the world. His impact in those forums was truly impressive, but nowhere was his impact felt more than in his pastoring and teaching at Shore Christian Center. Thousands of people and generation after generation have had their lives changed for the good through his love and the Word of God that he brought, through the Shore Christian Academy School that he founded, and through the many sports, community, and performing arts outreaches he initiated.

Pastor Dewey loved baseball. He founded and coached the State Champion Jersey Angels baseball team, and as a coach impacted every player in such a positive way. He was close with several Major League ball players and conducted interviews with them at both the Mets' and Yankees' stadiums. Many of those interviews led to inspiring personal testimonies by the players on Christian television, and many of the ball players came to Shore Christian Center Sports Camps to share their personal testimonies with the youth in the community.

Pastor Dewey was a devoted, loving husband and father to many, both by blood and by mutual choice. Those who were blessed to know him experienced a touch of the love of God. His passing has left a hole in our hearts that only God can fill.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lighthouse Church, 1133 East County Line Road, Lakewood, NJ 08701. To honor the legacy of Pastor Dewey, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jersey Shore Dream Center, founded by his son Isaac.
