George Fleischer Obituary
George Fleischer

AGE: 94 • Brick

George Fleischer died on October 15, 2017 at home with his family. He was born February 21, 1923, son of Louie and Lena, the oldest of 5 children. Growing up on Coney Island, George spent treasured time on the beach, most notably meeting his life love there, Sonia Bressler.

George led an impressive and decorated life. He helped to build the Pentagon and later served as a radio man during WWII where he participated in the invasion of Normandy. He attended college under the GI bill, attending Yankton South Dakota, Illinois Weslyan and graduated with an accounting degree from Long Island University, the first in his family to graduate college. He later served in the Korean war, and when he returned married Sonia in April of 1952. They had two children Jeff Fleischer and Elise Roselli. George got an accounting job with Phillip Van Heusen where he worked as an accountant for 45 years. Most remarkable of all his accomplishments, George was an incredible family man.

George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sonia, children Elise Roselli and Jeff Fleischer, son in law Frank Roselli, grandchildren Lauren Leddy and husband Dave Leddy, Stefani Viglone and husband Matt Viglone, and great grandchildren Madelyn, Tyler and Frankie. He is also survived by his youngest brother Dave Fleischer and his wife Deb. George was the cornerstone of his family, and was loved and respected by all who knew him. Responsible, loving, caring, giving, friendly, honest and a great sense of humor, George will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Services will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 10am, Temple Beth Or, 200 Van Zile Rd, Brick, NJ. No flowers at the request of the family, donations can be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation in George's honor. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.colonialfuneralgroup.com
