AGE: 96 • Lakewood

George P. Streilein, 96 of Lakewood passed away on August 17, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick with his family by his side. George was born Johnstown, PA and moved to Long Island City, NY. George along with his wife of 70 years Dorothy raised their family in Middle Village, NY and lived there before moving to Brick. George proudly served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theatre and fought in the Battle of The Bulge. George was a Master Machinist, employed by Neptune Meter Company of Long Island City, NY. Later in his career George worked for the City of New York Dept. of Water resources retiring. George enjoyed bowling and golf where he boasted of his hole in one. George and Dorothy helped at the local home for the aged and founded and operated a homeless shelter for many years at Resurrection Ascension Church, Middle Village, NY.

George was predeceased by the love of his life Dorothy C. (nee Hayes) in July of 2017. They were married 74 years. He is survived by two loving sons and their spouses Richard and Susan Streilein of Brick and Robert Streilein and Linda McKeegan of Stockton, NJ. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Kaitlin (Nate) McClelland and Brian Streilein and a great granddaughter Quinn. George was one of 8 children and is survived by two sisters.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday August 21, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ. A funeral service will be held 11:30 am Tuesday August 22, 2017 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 135 Salmon Street, Brick, NJ. Interment will follow at Brig Gen William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to PO Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101.
