AGE: 86 • Bradley Beach

George Robert Barry, 86, of Bradley Beach passed away on November 13 at his home with his loving wife, Kathleen by his side. George was the owner of Barry's Tavern in Bradley Beach for 34 years. George was a gifted athlete and was an All State basketball player at Saint Michael's High School in Jersey City and attended Saint Michael's College in Winooski Park V.T. on a basketball scholarship. George was proud to have served his country as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. he was a parishioner of the Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach. He was born and raised Jersey City and lived in Avon before moving to Bradley Beach in 1984.

George was predeceased by his siblings, Robert, John, Helen, Margaret and Lorraine. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen Healy Barry and many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen Barry would like to thank Dr. Jeffery Beal, Rev. Jerome Nolan, Pastor of The Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach, Rev. Dean Gaudio, Pastor of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary RC Church in Avon and the Nurses and Staff of Meridian Hospice in Neptune for their excellent care, dedication and compassion in caring for George in his final days.

Visitation will be on Thursday November 16, from 3 to 7PM at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday at 11 AM The Church of The Ascension, 501 Brinley Ave., Bradley Beach NJ. Committal will be held privately.
