George Spohrer

Manchester - George J. Spohrer, Jr., 96, of Manchester and formerly of Absecon, passed away on February 23, 2018. He was born on December 9, 1921 in Newark and resided in West Orange during his youth. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps for the duration of the war. He worked for the FAA in Atlantic City as s supervisor of aircraft maintenance until his retirement. He was married in 1943 to Ernestine Nattrass, with whom he had four daughters, for 53 years until her passing in 1996. George married Arlene C. Polyak of Toms River in 2003.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Spohrer, his daughter, Janice Sitnick of Depford, his sister, Dorothy Spohrer and his brother, Frank Spohrer. He is survived by his wife, Arlene, of Manchester; three daughters, Diane Gillespie of NC, Gail Grogan of Pine Hill and Donna Spohrer of Naples, FL, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren..

Family and friends are invited to call from 8:30 to 10:30 am, Wednesday, at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am, Wednesday, at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 619, Lakehurst. Interment will follow at 1 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
