Mrs. Geraldine F. Shaffer

AGE: 93 • Hazlet

Mrs. Geraldine F. Shaffer (nee Jenkins), 93, of Hazlet, NJ, passed away on February 25, 2017 surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 1, 1923. She married Robert H. Shaffer on October 16, 1943. Mrs. Shaffer settled in Hazlet with her family in 1961, where she was a homemaker and raised three daughters. She lived there until her passing. Mrs. Shaffer enjoyed entertaining and always welcomed family and friends to her home. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she always looked forward to their visits.

Mrs. Shaffer is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and James Burk of North Carolina, Patricia and Donald Ross of Illinois, and Kim and Charles Daetz of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Tricia, James, Kelli, Melissa, Ashley, and Jordan; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kayla, Hailey, Ross, John, Gavyn, Caleb, and Sophiya.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Jenkins, infant daughter Ellen, and her husband of 61 years, Robert Shaffer.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 5-8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 8:30 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 9:30 am at St. Catherine's Church, 110 Bray Ave., N. Middletown. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel.
