AGE: 85 • Hazlet

Jackie Hickey, 85, of Hazlet, died peacefully on December 29, 2016, after a long and difficult struggle with dementia. Beloved by her family and friends, Jackie had the soul of an artist, working with paint, yarn, fabric, and clay. Her devotion to her own spiritual life opened her to many deep friendships as well as her work as a spiritual director, helping others on their soul journeys.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles J. and Gladys (McGrail) McCarthy, her beloved husband, James "Jim" Frederick Hickey, and her brother, William B. McCarthy. Jackie is survived by her loving children, Katie Hickey and her husband, Jim Rohrer, of Wellfleet, MA, Patsy Fortney and her husband, Scott, of Montpelier, VT, Helen Ann Sephton and her husband, Graeme, of Shutesbury, MA, James Frederick Hickey and his wife, Eileen, of New Market, MD, Barbara Jean Pavlou and her husband, Bill, of Aberdeen, and John Hickey and his wife, Kathleen, of Chesterville, ME. She is also survived by her dear sisters and brothers, Barbara McCooe, Cormac McCarthy, Maryellen Jaques, and Dennis McCarthy, along with 16 cherished grandchildren and 3 adored great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
