Toms River, NJ - Harold Richard Larsen, 78 of Toms River passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Rich was born February 18, 1940 in Kearny, NJ and is described as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a proud and supportive grandfather, known affectionately as GP Cool to his grandkids. He loved attending their baseball games, dance competitions and visiting them in Texas. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and was a fixture at Toms River High School North Baseball Games for the past seven years. Rich was predeceased by his parents Harold and Mary of East Newark and is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Elvira of Toms River; two sisters, Carolyn Larsen and Elaine Coronato (Joseph) both of Toms River; two sons, Richard (Michelle) of Toms River and Michael (Michelle) of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Ryan, Craig and Taryn of Toms River and Maia, Sean and Cristina of Houston, Texas and many nieces and nephews. Rich was a member of St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Toms River. He retired from the East Newark Police Department in 1979, achieving the rank of Lieutenant and Bally's Park Place Casino in 2001. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 995 Fischer Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Toms River with burial to follow at St. Josephs Cemetery, Toms River.
