Harold Komar Obituary
Harold Komar

Red Bank - Harold Seymour Komar, 95, co-chairman of the board of Charles Komar and Sons, a 110-year-old intimate apparel company, passed away peacefully in Riverview Hospital, Red Bank, NJ, on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A self-proclaimed "people person," he was a man of unshakable optimism, kindness, and integrity.

The WWII Navy veteran was an aerial photographer during his service. He later graduated from The College of William and Mary, Virginia, and served as vice president, heading design at the company founded by his father in 1908. Mr. Komar spent his free time photographing, gardening, and appreciating classical music and opera with his wife Adelaide. The Komars, who celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in September, were founding members of the Ezra Committee, a social action group at Congregation B'nai Israel in Rumson, the synagogue his parents helped establish. Mr. Komar was on the board of the Monmouth Arts Foundation, and a Hall of Famer of Red Bank Regional High School. He volunteered in hospice and gave generously of his time and means to many community organizations.

Mr. Komar is survived by his wife, Adelaide; his two children, David Komar (Ginger) of New York City and Amy Komar Feldman (Avi) of Jerusalem, Israel, as well as five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
