Harold McCann

Whiting - Harold McCann, 92, passed away December 19, 2017 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. Mr. McCann was a lifelong resident of Kearny, NJ before settling in Whiting, NJ for the past 28 years. He served for the US Army during World War II on the 63rd Infantry "Blood and Fire Brigade," earning the bronze star. Harold worked for the township of Kearny as a machine operator for 33 years. He was one of the original trustees for the Whiting Methodist Church and is a life member of the Kearny VFW. Mr. McCann was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed working with his hands but his true love in life was spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father grandfather, great grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. McCann is predeceased by his parents Robert and Alma, brother, Kenneth McCann and sister, Susan Gyr. Harold is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothea, children, Ray McCann and his wife JoAnn and Charlene McCann, grandchildren, Kristyn Rommel and her husband Erick, Joseph Kubilus and his wife Dr. Teerin Meckmongkol, Rachel Pinton and her husband DJ and Jennifer Hendershot and her husband Jon, great grandchildren, Callie, Taylor, Josh, Gianna, Grace and Addy, brother, Robert McCann and his wife Marie and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 12 Noon at the Whiting Methodist Church 55 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home of Whiting, NJ. Cremation will be held privately. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Harold's Memory to the Whiting Methodist Church 55 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759.
