AGE: 71 • Middletown

Harry McCabe, 71, of Middletown, NJ, died on September 2, 2017 at his home. He was born in Kearny, NJ to the late Harry and Catherine McCabe and lived in Middletown for the past 40 years with his family. Harry received a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA in Risk Analysis from NCE (now NJIT) and an MBA in Economics from Seton Hall University. He worked as a Network Security Architect, a Distributed Systems Architect, and Systems Analyst for SAIC, FCS, and numerous other companies. He filed for, and received, a patent in Persistent Session and Data in Transparently Distributed Objects in 2001. He also was involved in developing a sophisticated communication system for submarines he referred to as "the Bubble". He was a voracious reader of all genres, from newspapers and technical publications to the current best sellers. He enjoyed music and he was a fan of the NY Giants. He loved working with computers, though his goal was "to retire and play chess." He loved spending time with family and friends. Harry's greatest love was for his wife, Darlene.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Darlene (Protzo) McCabe; his two daughters, Jill McCabe MacQuilken of Scottsdale, AZ and Charlene (McCabe) and her husband Richard Ballering of Los Angeles, CA; his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Sabrina; his two brothers, Michael and Bill McCabe; his sister-in-law, Maryann Protzo Diaz; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Harry was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Andrea Protzo.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 9 at 9 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10 am at St. Catherine Labourè, 110 Bray Ave., N. Middletown. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington.
