Helen C. Stanley

AGE: 88 • Ocean Grove

Helen Caroline Stanley, 88, of Ocean Grove, died on September 8, 2017. She spent her entire life in New Jersey after being born in Union City and attending Washington School and Union Hill High School there. She raised her family in West Milford and moved to the Lake Ridge Adult Community in Toms River after she was widowed. The last three years of her life were spent in the Francis Asbury Manor in Ocean Grove, now Allegria assisted living.

Married to Robert Stanley on January 24, 1946, they were together for 42 years until his death. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always supportive and willing to help her family in any way that she could.

Helen enjoyed going to the movies, reading, playing card games, taking walks and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Newfoundland, worked as a lunchroom and hall monitor for the West Milford school system and was an active member and officer in the West Milford Township Senior Citizens Organization. While living in the Lake Ridge Community she was also an active participant in the Singles Woman Club and held leadership positions for that group.

Helen is survived by her three sons, Gary (Nancy) of Cape May Courthouse, Robert (Robyn Flipse) of Bradley Beach and Steven (Renee) of Mount Laurel, her grandchildren Matthew, Kristin, Meghan, John, David, Brian, Ian, Tyler, Paige, and Brooke and her five great-grandchildren.

Her husband Robert Stanley and her parents, Lewis and Gertrude Michel, preceded her in death.

A Memorial Service will be held at Allegria at Ocean Grove (formerly Francis Asbury Manor) on Saturday October 14th at 2PM. Condolences may be sent via
