AGE: 93 • Lakewood

Helen Dwulet Meyer, 93, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017. She was born at home, in the Greenville section of Lakewood, N.J on Valentine's Day, 1924 to the late Martin Dwulet and Katherine Dwulet Keitel, founders of Dwulet Farm. She was a lifelong resident of Lakewood and began her education at Dr. Chase's one-room schoolhouse and continued at No. 5 Grade School. She graduated from Lakewood High School and the Scudder School, N.Y.C. Helen lived at 1603 County line Rd. until she married in 1946, living then at 698 River Ave for 52 years. She returned to the family farm and built a new home, where she lived with her husband until they died. They also enjoyed a second home in Bradenton, Fla. for many years.

Helen was an administrative assistant for the U.S Army Signal Corps Headquarters, Shark River Hills, during World War II. After, she worked at the Federal Land Bank of Springfield Mass., and Freehold, N.J as Assoc. Secretary Treasurer for 11 years before retiring. She was co-owner of Ocean Lanes, Lakewood, N.J. Helen was a member of St. Mary of the Lake her whole life, being the first baby baptized at the new Church. She served as Chaplain for both Lakewood Elks Ladies Auxiliary #1434 and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 144. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary #4 Firehouse, Lakewood, St Mary Academy Mother's Club, and 4-H leader for Lakewood girls club. Helen and her husband were members of Bradenton Beach Moose Club and High Steppers Square Dance club, where she served as secretary.

Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Francis "Sonny" J. Meyer Jr. of 62 years in 2009 and her older brothers Joseph, Henry, Edward and Dr. Leon Dwulet. Surviving are her daughters, Linda S. Greene of Greensburg, PA, and Melanie Meyer Hadidi and son-in-law, Taleb of Lakewood, NJ; son, Francis J. Meyer III and daughter-in-law, Linda of Millstone, NJ; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacquelyn, Melanie, Stacey, Sydney, Michael, Maia, Leanna, Francis IV, Kathryn, Theodore, Peter, Emma, Andrea; 9 great-grandchildren, Channing, Matthew, Elizabeth, James Jr., Jefferi-Lynn, Alexandra, Paige, Dominique Jr, Brooke; 8 great-great grandchildren, Milena, Eva, Jade, Aiden, Dylan, Amiera, Elijah, and Sophia and also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews as well as her pet cat, Jack.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4, & 7-9 PM at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood. A funeral Mass will be offered Thursday, 12 Noon, at St. Mary of the Lake RC Church, 43 Madison Avenue, Lakewood. Burial to occur at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
