Helen M. Devine, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Harrogate Retirement Community, Lakewood, NJ. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she attended Bishop McDonald HS and Saint Joseph College. She also lived in Parsippany, Roxbury, and Toms River, NJ. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Christopher Gaffney and Elizabeth Dreyfus Gaffney, and her dear husband of 59 Years, Robert Devine Sr. Mrs. Devine spent a majority of her life as a homemaker raising her six children, and had a late career at Hahne's Department Store and was also an Office Manager at Lord and Taylor. Helen was an avid reader, a master bridge player, played the piano, loved ballroom dancing, enjoyed mahjong, and many card games. She loved spending time with her family for holiday gatherings and celebrations. Helen was an active mother who believed in education and hard work. She believed in the power of prayer and many benefited when they were on her "Prayer List".

Helen is survived by her two sisters Joan Jagde, Floral Park, NY and Elizabeth Heffernan, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Also surviving are her sons, Robert Jr and his wife Nancy, John and his wife Joan, Donald and his wife Barbara, James and his wife Lisa, and Richard. Her daughter, Joan Devine and Steve Scarpulla. 12 grandchildren: Christina, Robert III, Amanda, John, Katherine, Margaret, James, Jennifer, Autumn, Elizabeth, Brooke and James Jr.

Visiting will be Sunday, 1 to 5 PM at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ. Funeral with be Monday at 9:30 AM at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, NJ, arrive at the Funeral Home at 8:30 AM. Interment will be at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the or , 2310 Route 34, Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
