Helen Ronson Stevenson Obituary
Helen Ronson Stevenson

AGE: 90 • Holmdel

Helen Ronson Stevenson, a lifelong resident of Monmouth County, NJ, died on Sunday at the age of 90.

Helen was born in Morganville, NJ on October 31, 1926, one of four children to Clyde Ronson and Sarah Holmes. After graduating from Matawan High School in 1944, Helen went to secretarial school where she learned accounting, book keeping, typing and short hand. On August 9, 1946, Helen went on a date with a local boy on leave from the Navy to see the film "Night and Day" at The Mayfair theatre in Asbury Park. Two days later he proposed, and Helen and Bill Stevenson were married on December 1, 1946. Helen and Bill were married for 70 years, until Bill preceded Helen in death earlier this year.

Helen worked as the office manager and corporate secretary at Holmes & McDowell Insurance Agency in Holmdel for over 15 years, and later served as the church secretary at the Old Brick Reformed Church in Marlboro. She was an active member of the Holmdel Volunteer Company No. 1 Ladies Auxiliary and the Old Brick Reformed Church for many years, as well as a member of the Matawan High School Class of 1944 Reunion Committee.

Helen was a gifted cook, gardener, and seamstress, enthusiastic traveler and family historian, and all-around Renaissance woman. But above all she was devoted to her family and many loyal friends. She leaves behind a loving son, Kent, and his wife Ruthann, of Holmdel, and three adoring and very grateful grandchildren: Rick of Hancock, Maine; Lee Ann Stevenson (and husband, Andrew Muratore) of New York, New York; Bill (and wife Tiffany) of Keyport, New Jersey; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Nahum, Zev and Asher Stevenson (Rick); Owen and Luke Muratore (Lee Ann); and Ryan, Ian and Ashley Stevenson (Bill). Helen is also survived by her two younger sisters, Norma Ott of Ocean Ridge, Florida, and Lola Dawson (and husband Walter) of Brick, NJ and brother Ralph Ronson (and wife Christine) of Leonardo, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel, Holmdel on Friday, August 11 from 2-5pm. A brief memorial service will be held promptly at 5pm at the Funeral Home. To share a favorite memory or message of condolence, please visit Helen's page of tributes at
