AGE: 87 • Lanoka Harbor

Herman G. Fenchel, 87, of Lanoka Harbor passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Mr. Fenchel retired as Chief of the Irvington Police Department after many years of service to the community. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Irvington American Legion, Elks Lodge, Kiwanis Club, Moose Lodge, Salaam Shriners and was a Master Mason, Loyalty Lodge #33. He also was a proud member of the FOB, PBA and NJ Association of Chiefs of Police. Mr. Fenchel enjoyed coaching for the Irvington P.A.L., Irvington Little League, Brick Memorial High School Boys Basketball from 1998 -2000 where he was also the equipment manager and Manasquan High School Boys Basketball from 2001-2008 where he also was the equipment manager as well.

Born in Newark he lived many years in Irvington and Bonita Springs, FL before moving to Lanoka Harbor 30 years ago.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Fisk) Fenchel in 2004; and by parents, Herman and Rosa Fenchel.

Surviving are his sons, Karl H. Fenchel and his wife, June of Lakewood, Kurt M. Fenchel and his wife, Michelle of Toms River; daughters, Kristine E. Graham and her husband, Wayne of Landing and Kathy Fenchel of Lanoka Harbor; as well as seven grandchildren, Kurt V. Fenchel and his fiancé, Vanessa Kloss, Kevin Fenchel, Kody Fenchel, Jeff Breur, Justin Breur, Jordyn Breur and Nicole Graham.

Visiting will be on Thursday from 3-7pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be conducted at 7pm in the funeral home. Final interment will be private. Donations may be made in his name to Shriners International.
