Howard P. Schiff

AGE: 77 •

Howard P. Schiff, 77, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Howard was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. He was the oldest son of Ruth and Benjamin Schiff and lived in Asbury Park and Long Branch since 1973. Howard attended Weequahic High School, St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland, served in the United States Army, and then attended William and Mary Law School.

Howard was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1968. He practiced law with his brother, Daniel C. Schiff, for almost 40 years in their partnership, Schiff and Schiff Attorneys at Law, in Asbury Park and then in West Long Branch. Howard was respected and well-liked by his clients but Howard was most proud of the loyalty of his staff, most of whom stayed with and worked with the firm, as a family, for over 30 years.

Howard was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Schiff, and his beloved brother, Leonard Jay Schiff. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Schiff, 104 years old; his brother Daniel C. Schiff and sister-in-law Janet E. Schiff. Howard was the beloved "Uncle Howie" to his nieces and nephews Shoshana Schiff and Warren Usatine; Max Leib Schiff; Hadassah Wilmere Schiff Zamir and Assaf Zamir; Sonya Elke Schiff Linton and Kit Linton; as well as his grandnieces and grandnephews, Michael Benjamin Usatine (his godson), Viola Mae Linton, Rachel Marissa Usatine, Henry Calvin Linton, Shawn Zamir, Noah Avon Disney Schiff, and Mia Hope Zamir.

Howard illuminated and warmed all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on August 14, 2017 at Bloomfield Cooper Memorial Chapel, 2135 Highway 35 South, Ocean Township, New Jersey with internment to follow at King Solomon Cemetery, Clifton, New Jersey.
