AGE: 64 • Howell

Hugh P. "Hugo" Evans, 64 of Howell passed away on Tuesday December 22 at Centra-State Medical Center, Freehold. Hugo was born and raised in Harrison, NJ and was a graduate of Essex Catholic High School. Hugo joined the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran serving during the Vietnam era. Upon completion of military service he worked for over 40 years in telephone communications for NJ Bell, Lucent and Converge One. Hugo was a member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, Belmar, Howell Elks, Irish American Club, and the Jersey Shore Marines. He was a huge fan and supporter of Notre Dame and Celtic Football Club.

Hugo was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Evans. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Janice Evans of Howell; two sons and a daughter-in-law John and Laura Evans of Howell and Hugh Evans of Howell and a grandson who is due in February. Hugo is also survived by his siblings Michael and Corinne Evans and Jack and Jill Evans all of Florida; a sister Anita Gilmore of Kearny and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Sunday December 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Monday December 28 at St. William the Abbott Church, Howell. Cremation will follow and interment will be at Brig Gen William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ at a later date. To send condolences to the family or obtain directions to the funeral home please visit
