Manasquan - Irene Garhart Cook, 89, of Manasquan, NJ passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018. She was raised in Farmingdale, NJ. Irene graduated from Farmingdale Elementary School and Freehold Borough High School. She attended the Newark School of Art after graduation.

In 1947 she married the love of her life, Warren B. Cook and together they raised their family in West Windsor, a rural farming community.

Irene and Warren celebrated their 65th Anniversary in 2012, shortly before Warren's passing that same year.

Irene held a successful career at the McGraw-Hill Publishing, becoming the first woman General Manager.

Irene was always very active in her Church, from becoming a deacon at the Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church, to a volunteer and Circle Member at the First Presbyterian Church in Manasquan. She was involved in the PTA and served as a Girl Scout Leader. Irene had many interests including being an accomplished artist, a skilled pianist and traveler throughout the USA and to Europe. Irene greatly enjoyed tennis, and a day at the beach, and taught her grandchildren how to body surf. Above all Irene enjoyed her family and her many friendships.

She is survived by her three children, Christine Guarino and her husband Angelo of Point Pleasant; Timothy Cook of Marlboro; and Laurie Neyhart and her husband John of Farmingdale. Also six cherished grandchildren, Kim Gallicchio, Matthew Guarino, Britton Cook, Amy Usdan, Jeffrey Neyhart and William Neyhart and six dear great-grandchildren. Irene was always happy to lend a hand, and open her heart and home to anyone in need.

Arrangements are under the supervision of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan, NJ. A Memorial Service and celebration of her life is scheduled at the First Presbyterian Church, 16 Virginia Avenue, Manasquan at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 20. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NJ FFA Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 214, Allentown, NJ 08501. Please note: Warren and Irene Cook Memorial Scholarship. She was also a supporter of the VNA.
