Irving A. Levine Obituary
Irving A. Levine

Boca Raton, FL - Irving A. Levine passed away January 15, 2018 in Boca Raton, Florida, surrounded by the family he loved and that loved him in return.

Passing at 97 years of age, Irv led a full life. He was part of "the Greatest Generation" of Americans, having fought in the Army on behalf of his country in WWII and surviving the front lines at the Battle of the Bulge under the command of General George S. Patton.

Irv was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 17, 1920 to parents, Jacob and Sarah. He was the second of three children and had two sisters, Dorothy and Charlotte.

When Irv was a young man, the family of five moved to a farm in Flemington, NJ where he worked tirelessly and developed his love for animals; a love that he carried throughout his life.

Irv married Clare Cohen in 1941 and together they had two children; Leonard and Barbara. They lived in Monmouth County for 27 years where Irv was the owner of the Oakhurst Bar, followed by years working in the spirits industry. They then moved to Florida where they lived until Clare's untimely passing in 1978.

Irv married Rose Mallen in 1980 and soon became the patriarch of two families, helping to fill the void left by the death of Rose's first husband. They lived in Boca Raton, Florida where Irv became a community leader and enjoyed tennis, bridge and social activities.

Irv lived a long and productive life. There was nothing he couldn't fix, nothing that made him complain, and no excuse not to stay active. He enjoyed working with his son on real estate projects, traveling extensively and enjoying a Heineken after a long day. He leaves behind nearly a century's worth of memories and the respect, love and admiration of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Irving Levine was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Sarah; his sisters Dorothy and Charlotte; his first wife Clare and his son, Dr. Leonard J. Levine. He is survived by his wife, Rose, of Boca Raton, Florida; his daughter, Barbara Laufer, her husband, Dr. Sam Laufer of Fair Haven, NJ; three step-daughters, Penni Deutsch, her husband, Ken, Lorri Hark, her husband, Clifford and Bonnie Rubinstein; grandsons Michael, David and James Laufer; granddaughter Kate Laufer Gorenstein, her husband, Jeffrey; granddaughter Thea Kovarik, her husband, Matt; grandchildren Jeffrey and Charles Hark, Spencer, Elana and Adam Rubinstein; great grandson Will Gorenstein and great granddaughters Ava and Mila Kovarik.
