Jack W. Palumbo

Jack W. Palumbo, age 82, of Manchester, passed away on March 13, 2017 at Monmouth Medical Center - Southern Campus in Lakewood, NJ.

Mr. Palumbo was born in New Brunswick and raised in Jamesburg. In his younger days, Jack was a star athlete at Jamesburg High School. He was a three letterman and attained All-State status in both soccer and baseball. He was scouted by several Pro Baseball teams and had numerous athletic college scholarship offers. He attended Rutgers and attained certificates in Management and Labor Relations.

During his work career, Jack was the Director of Operations for Stavola Contracting in Tinton Falls. Prior to his career with Stavola, he was a Principal Highway Inspector for the NJ Department of Transportation for 21 years. He was also a co-owner of JWP Quality Homes, LLC.

In addition to having a very successful career, Jack dedicated much of his free time to the community. He was a founding member of Colts Neck Sports Foundation and President of both Sports Foundation and the Colts Neck Little League for over 20 years. He also coached semi-pro baseball in The Jersey Shore Baseball League.

Jack had a great love for his family and friends and was never at a loss for words, a joke or comment to draw laughter out of them. He enjoyed coordinating the golf programs at both Leisure Village West, here in New Jersey and at his Florida home in Camelot Lakes, Sarasota. He had a true love for golf and was a student of the game. He also coordinated the annual road maintenance program at Leisure Village West. For all of his efforts on behalf of the community, Jack was inducted into the Leisure Village West "HALL OF HONOR". He engrained that love for golf in his kids as he taught them the way to play the game correctly and how to enjoy it. He also loved fishing as in Colts Neck the family lived on a large lake. He was often heard to say at the dinner table "Go dig some worms- we're going fishing". And his kid's would gladly do so.
