James Albert Gilligan, 69, of Lake Como, NJ passed away on Monday April 10, 2017 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. Born on July 19, 1947 to the late James and Doris Gilligan in Hoboken, NJ. James was raised in Hoboken where he lived for many years before moving to Ocean grove, NJ, and then to Lake Como, NJ 27 years ago. James was an honorable hero having proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a Captain in the US Army and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. James was an avid gardener, he enjoyed taking trips and spending most of his time outdoors especially by the water. He liked watching the History Channel, loved being social and making others laugh especially his family. James always said "when it's your time to go it's your time to go". He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. We love and miss you Jim. Surviving is his devoted wife of 30 years Denise A. Gilligan, a son and his girlfriend James Patrick Gilligan and Kimberly E. Roselli. From a previous marriage a daughter Colleen A. Anthony, son James S. Gilligan, a sister Patricia A. Gilligan, as well as a granddaughter Ella Anthony. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Oceanside Memorial Home, 2014 Main St, Lake Como, NJ 07719 on Monday April 17, 2017 from 5-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 18, 2017 at 10am at the Church of the Ascension, Bradley Beach, NJ followed by interment in the Brig Gen William C Doyle Veteran Memorial Park, Wrightstown, NJ.
