AGE: 88 • Brick

James A. McNamara, 88 of Brick, NJ and Port St. Lucie, FL passed away peacefully on June 23, 2017 at his home in Brick. Born in New York City; he married Catherine B. McNamara in 1953, raising his family in The Bronx, NY before moving to Brick in 1966. James served in the United States Army during the Korean War and rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant. Using his G.I. benefits, James earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree from the School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance at New York University. Beginning in 1989, after a distinguished 42-year investment banking career with Brown Brothers, Harriman & Co. (New York, NY), he and his wife Kay annually followed the migration patterns of snowbirds to Florida. Jim was an avid golfer who carded two holes-in-one, a member of the Elks Club, a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was predeceased by his wife Catherine in 2015 and his son Stephen A. in 1992. Surviving are his son James T. (Maryann) of Hadlyme, CT, daughter, Margaret of Santa Fe, NM and son William C. (Gina) of Island Heights, NJ. Grandchildren, James P. (Krissie Milan), Maureen J. Bigelow (Kevin), Brian (Melissa), Sean T. (Angela), Brett J. and Kelci A. Great Grandchildren, Lauren, Aidan and Ryan.

Viewing hours will be on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 3-7 PM at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home 885 Mantoloking Road, Brick NJ. Additional visitation at Weatherhead Young will be on Thursday June 29, 2017 from 10:00 to 10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday 11:00am at Church of the Visitation, Brick, followed by Entombment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
