James C. Gannon, 87, of Spring Lake Heights, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 10, 2017, after a brief illness.

Born in Jersey City to the late William R. and Elizabeth Conroy Gannon, Jim and his family moved to Spring Lake in 1968 where he and his late wife, Ann, raised their five daughters. Jim graduated from St. Peter's Prep and St. Peter's College and attended New York University Graduate School of Business Administration. He served in the US Naval Reserve for eight years. He retired from Midlantic National Bank/Merchants where he was a Vice-President and a senior loan officer. He was a Retired Life Member of the Risk Management Association of Philadelphia, a founding Treasurer and Director of the Harrison Rotary Club, past Chairman of the Industrial Development Committee of the West Hudson Chamber of Commerce and a member of several other professional and civic organizations. He was a communicant of St. Catharine's-St. Margaret's Parish in Spring Lake.

Jim enjoyed reading, watching old movies, working in the yard and walking the boards. He was a kind, generous man who had a wonderful sense of humor.

Jim lovingly cared for his wife Ann for many years until her death in 2009. He was also predeceased by his brother, William R. Gannon, OP, in 2016. Jim is survived by his daughters, Carol and Shane Hartman, Sue Ann Skelly, Catherine and Thomas Esposito, Elizabeth Gannon and Nancy Gannon, and his seven grandchildren, Trevor and Neal Skelly, Sarah, Tommy and Jack Esposito, and Kevin and Keith Dement. Also surviving are his sister Mrs. Elizabeth Gyori, his sister-in-law Rita Saunders and her husband Vincent, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In accordance with the wishes of Jim and his family, there will be no viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret's Church, Spring Lake, on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt.
